Piano, Keyboard, & Organ
The second Partita, in C minor, is available here in a handy, inexpensive separate edition that is ideal for advanced learners and for self-study. The helpful fingerings by pianist William Youn are notable for their particular ergonomics, and carefully follow the phrasing and sense of Bach’s music. Interesting deviations in the different sources are made easily accessible in footnotes or in square brackets in the musical text itself.

Haydn’s C Minor Sonata is shot through with a passionate, dark, at times sullen mood. It may be regarded as the Viennese classicist’s own Appassionata - a great triumph! This reasonably-priced single Urtext edition, with fingering by Haydn expert Paul Lewis, is based on Henle’s three-volume Complete Edition of all of Haydn’s piano sonatas.
