Pierre Audi

The French-Lebanese director Pierre Audi was born in Beirut in 1957 and was educated at the Collège Stanislas de Paris and Exeter College Oxford, where he read history. Two years after graduation he founded the Almeida Theatre in Islington, and quickly established the venue as a major centre for contemporary music and drama; twentieth-century and contemporary repertoire has played a major role throughout his career, though he has also directed acclaimed productions of operas by Monteverdi, Rameau, Gluck and Mozart as well as the Dutch premiere of the complete Ring des Nibelungen.
